The Joint Commission certifies against a standard. CHAI publishes governance playbooks. The National Academy of Medicine publishes a code of conduct. All of it is good, and all of it is deliberately framework-level. The Institute publishes the layer underneath.
How the work is funded
The Institute accepts no vendor sponsorship. No sponsorships, no paid placements, no affiliate commissions, no vendor equity, no referral fees. Revenue comes from book sales, toolkit licences and advisory engagements paid for by provider organisations — the people the work is written for.
That matters for a specific reason. When a chapter says a category is not ready, or an assessment recommends against a purchase, there is nothing on the other side of the scale. That is the entire value of an independent reference, and it is why we say it in public.

How the books are made
- Quantitative claims carry a named, dated source, or their confidence is explicitly downgraded in the sentence.
- Case studies drawn from multiple engagements are labelled composites wherever they appear.
